Tata Starbucks, the 50:50 joint venture between Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (TCPL) and US-based Starbucks Corporation, has reaffirmed its commitment to India, despite reports suggesting otherwise. In response to rumors about Starbucks potentially exiting the Indian market, Tata Starbucks issued a statement clarifying that the company remains fully invested in India’s growing coffee culture. The coffee chain operates over 470 stores in 76 cities across the country, with India being a crucial growth market for Starbucks globally.

Although the company reported a widening loss of ₹79.97 crore in FY24, attributed to its aggressive expansion strategy, it emphasized that the expansion was part of long-term goals to establish a significant footprint in India. Tata Starbucks’ revenue from operations grew by 12% to ₹1,218.06 crore in FY24, showcasing the brand’s resilience in a competitive market.

Tata Consumer Products Ltd. CEO Sunil D’souza highlighted that the company is focusing on scaling up Starbucks’ presence in India rather than prioritizing immediate store profitability. This approach, according to D’souza, is essential for ensuring long-term success and profitability as the brand expands further in the country.
